A LISTED LOW-CARBON TENEMENT REFURBISHMENT, GRASSMARKET, EDINBURGH

A multiple award-winning project for Hillcrest Housing Association which tackles difficult task of refurbishing existing building to minimise CO2 emissions/dependency on non-renewable energy.

Through a rigorous design process an innovative onsite renewable solution, combining a 14-bore Ground Source Heat Pump and Passive Solar Gain utilised unique site conditions whilst adhering to strict Conservation constraints. Whole house ventilation and underfloor heating designed to work in tandem with thermal upgrading to envelope and windows to transform this leaky tenement into a energy efficient sustainable housing project.
